Olympus EVOLT E-410 Digital camera user reviews
"For ~$370 U.S. new (closeout) with the 14-40 kit lens, Olympus EVOLT E-410 Digital camera is a solid little machine at a magic price. The kit lens impresses, the sensor..not as much. In my opinion, this camera is far less forgiving than larger dSLR's like my 30D. You get what you pay for. It does have better output than a small-sensor p/s cameras, though.
Perfectly exposed shots are nice, but this sensor just seems tricky. Go manual/center-weighted and approach it like you are shooting positive film; you'll have much more success. Highlight clipping is really easy and shadow noise is ugly. Also, there are lots of menu choices that can really give you chewy jpegs. RAW gives you a bit more flexibility, especially to combat the inconsistent WB.
Love the size!"

"I don't understand the critics to the camera, it is a small DSLR which is great, Olympus EVOLT E-410 Digital camera
is very portable camera, people complain about the grip, well use both hands that's how is supposed to be handled. The quality is excellent, I personally love it, I had the Evolt E-500 and the image on this one is better, other complain I hear is the shooting time, well if you are going to be shooting professionally then buy a more expensive camera, critics have to understand that this is a pro-sumer camera and that most of us won't be in the type of situation that a pro may be, this is a camera for family, vacation and fun pictures with a professional quality.
Well that's all I have to say. Buy one you won't be disappointed. "

"I've been very interesed in Digital SLR cameras for ages now, and held back with the hope they would come down in price. I didn't have to wait too long, PC World had an offer on these just before Christmas, I missed it, it was for the Olympus E410 with 2 extra lenses, which is just brilliant. So, I went down to my local PC World with every intention of buying one of these, but like I said, they were all gone - Doh!
But, to my delight and amazement they had one box tucked away with just one lens in it, the 17.5-45mm. I asked the sales person to price check if for me, and it came in at £149.97 - Bargain!!!!!
The camera: If your like me and a complete novice, this truely is a Brilliant Camera. The instruction booklet is great, it even gives you tips on how to shoot different styles of shot ie portrait etc....
I have since bought another lens for distance shots (telephoto) off ebay, and now all I want is a wide angle lens and I'm done. The camera is very lightweight and extremely user friendly. There are loads of hints and tips on the manual, so you'll soon be shooting the family portraits and holiday snaps till your heart's content!! GREAT CAMERA, fully recommend!
