Fujifilm S2 Pro Digital camera user reviews
"Fujifilm S2 Pro Digital camera feel is great. I get up to 35MB files with excellent color and resolution. Love the post view setting. Shooting in low light situations with flash, gives great fill and wonderful colors.

"I find Fujifilm S2 Pro Digital camera to be very functional. It's very easy to use. For someone that is familiar with digital cameras you can pretty much figure out most of the functions on the camera without even picking up the manual. Except for not having a rubberized grip, I like the way the camera feels in my hand. I find the image quality to be excellent. It would have been nice to see a portrait shutter release. Also the dual power supply leaves little to be desired. There is a way around that though. A Nikon MB-16 can be modified so the S2 uses 8 AA batteries instead of 4 AA's + 2 CR123A batteries. I made this conversion and it works really well. I have read that the new S3 will be refitted to use just 4 AA's to run the whole camera. I think this will be insufficient for battery life. Another good point is the built in flash. Although it is not that powerful, it is good for some fill flash outdoors. It's also good for triggering other strobes so you can work without cords. One more point to make is the fact that you don't get any metering when using non-cpu lenses. Although you can still make exposures using these lenses, you have to guess your exposure.

"I have just found out that my S2 PRO has a yellow cast to most all images, i did a few tests on white balance vs my S3, the results were clearly that S2 neutral white balance has an overall yellow cast to it. So i use custom1 white balance for outdoor shots, by shooting a white piece of paper in the sun, that came out alot better and more neutral, truer colors. Also i use custom2 white balance for indoor in tungsten or neon light by shooting that same white piece of paper in any room lighting condition where you're ready to shoot a project without using flash.
I measured the neutral density in fotoshop cs3, clearly yellow channel density was too high on S2 neutral.
On the otherhand, S3 Auto white balance is dead on neutral. GREAT!.
On both S2&S3 i set color and tone at ORG settings, max sharpness, extend dynamic range , and 12mp. the results are awesome. I dont care for the STANDARD settings, it just boost colors cast to images..
I cant wait to buy S5, right now the price is still too high.
I've wrote a few reviews regarding image quality of Fujis vs Canon and Nikon. To make it short, i've sold all my Canon and Nikon gears, and stay with Fujifilm S series and Sonys, watch out for all new Sony DSLRs coming out soon.
Be Kool!

"First, let me mention the quarter century as a pro photographer with funding by an uncle with very deep pockets. I have had and can have virtually any imaging device or accessory required to fulfill my clients wants or needs. The Fuji S2 Pro series have always been best in their class when measured on overall performance and long-term value. For the S2, just look at the closing prices on ebay vs. the Nikon and Canon counterparts (look at an average of several as there are always exceptions). You will see that these 5 year old beauties regularly pull down 25 to 40% more than the competition from the same era. Please don't compare them to the new cameras as even you won't compare with the new generation human when they are your age. The CCD gripe affected a certain range of cameras that had chips contracted to Sony. Fuji and Olympus have offered free replacement of the affected CCD's. Google for all of the re-called cameras from this era such as various Sony and Olympus models (C-5050 comes to mind). And speaking of which, with all of the flaming laptop battery recalls (Sony, Apple, Dell, Compaq, etc.) that are Sony contract faults, it's amazing anyone does business with Sony for contracting out anything.
Bottom line: I use this camera as my personal "daily shooter" and prefer it over all but the newest. It also comes down to reliability, most bang for the buck, and how much I want to lose in the field when "out of country". "
